The Holy Trinity Church
holytrinity illustration

The Holy Trinity Church in Stratford-upon-Avon dates as far back as the year 845 as a place of worship. The stone and wooden buildings of the early years have long since vanished.

The current building was built in the year 1210 out of limestone and in the shape of a cross. Over the years, there have been many additions and changes to the church.

The Holy Trinity Church is probably most famous for its ties to William Shakespeare. Shakespeare was baptized in this church on April 26, 1564. On April 25, 1616, Shakespeare was buried in the Holy Trinity Church in an area known as the "chancel".

Today, visitors from all over the world come to see his grave.
