Mecca is located in western Saudi Arabia. It is the holiest city in Islam. It is also the birthplace of the prophet Muhammad. When Muslims pray, they face in the direction of Mecca.

Mecca contains the largest mosque in the world -- the Grand Mosque.

One of the laws of Islam states that every Muslim who is able to travel must visit Mecca at least once in his or her life. This journey is called the Hajj.
