Israel is a country in south-west Asia located near the Mediterranean Sea. It shares border with Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Egypt.

Some quick facts about Israel include:

• Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. It is located north of the Dead Sea.
• In 2008, the population of Israel was approximately 7 million.
• The majority of the population is Jewish. However, Israel has many religious groups including Muslims and Christians.
• Military service is mandatory for Israeli Jews when they reach the age of 18.
• Israeli money is called the Shekel.
