Lusaka is the capital city of Zambia.
Lusaka began as a small village (ruled by Chief Lusaka). In 1905, British settlers built a railway through this small village. Lusaka soon grew and it has been a major city ever since.
Today, the area in and surrounding Lusaka is home to 2.4 million people and is one of the fastest-growing cities in southern Africa.
