Meet the Explorer: Zoë D’Amato |
|
Hometown: Harmony, Nova Scotia. Favorite Food: I like nearly everything, but my default comfort food is Italian. Specifically, eggs poached in tomato sauce over polenta with tons of olive oil. When I was little I wanted to be: A Flying Danish Superkid (a troupe of amazing gymnasts from Denmark), a singer on broadway, or an acrobat for Cirque du Soleil. One musician I’m really into right now: I love Lizz Wright and her incredibly talented bass player Nicholas D’Amato. ;) Also, a Canadian band called Mother Mother. Places I’d really like to visit: I’d like to visit Mongolia. The southwest USA. China. Anywhere! I just love travelling. One thing I can’t travel without: I used to have a sarong that I took everywhere with me (skirt, dress, pillow, shawl, towel, bag and blanket all in one) but it fell apart two years ago. Now I’d say a camera. Things I miss most when travelling: My cats, and my house. And everything I forgot to pack. One thing that really scares me: Sharks. I just know they’re in my future. The most daring thing I’ve ever done: Two events come to mind. Doing the EdgeWalk at the CN tower in Toronto; and agreeing to marry my husband after only ten days together. Favorite ProjectExplorer.org experience: I love doing food segments. Interactions in kitchens are rewarding and honest. It’s easy to show gratitude and respect. The language of food is universal. ProjectExplorer.org Expeditions:Central America, Mauritius, Azerbaijan, and the 2013 British Empire project. |
