Meet the Explorer: Tati Amare |
|
Hometown: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Los Angeles, CA. New York, NY. Favorite Food: Mexican food! Every bite is filled with nostalgia - reminiscent of my childhood days in Los Angeles. One musician I’m really into right now: Stevie Wonder - it’s all about the throwbacks for 2011. Starting with Motown and will be working my way through classic hip-hop by the end of the year. Some places I’d really like to visit: Malaga, Spain - then make my way over to Morocco. That will probably be the most amazing ferry ride I’ll ever take. One thing I can’t travel without: I can’t travel without my iPod; everyone needs to have a soundtrack to their travels. What I miss most when travelling: The NYC subway system. I’m so used to jumping up and going wherever I want to go, when I want to. Not so easy to do everywhere else in the world. One thing that really scares me: Getting lost in a foreign country and not remembering where my hotel is. Yikes! The most daring thing I’ve ever done: Define myself for myself. I’m not afraid to be me. This sometimes means making a fool of myself, but I’m okay with that. ProjectExplorer.org Expeditions: Thailand, Central America (Fall 2011) Tati grew up watching 20/20 on Friday nights and capped off her weekends with 60 Minutes on Sunday night. Little did she know this was the set up to her true passion - reporting and producing. She’s a hybrid of the cultures and cities she grew up in. Each one leaving a unique impression on her and giving her a multi-faceted personality and perspective on life - in a good way! |
